On this tour we’ll visit the northern part of the country, Casablanca, Fes and Chefchaouen. Very different in landscape and scenery, beautifully perched beneath the raw peaks of the Rif, Chefchaouen is one of the prettiest towns in Morocco, an artsy, blue-washed mountain village that feels like its own world. Casablanca conjours up images of the classic movie and Fes is the ancient capital.

This experience is available during these months: September 1, 2019 - November 1, 2019 & March 1, 2020 May 30, 2020.

Day 1 - Arrive in Casablanca in the afternoon, settle into your Riad, relax and have dinner.

Day 2 -  After breakfast visit Hassan II mosque, one of only two mosques open for non-muslims to go inside. In the afternoon, travel to Fes. Fes is the second largest city in Morocco and was founded in 8th - 9th centuries during the Idrisid dynasty. We’ll stop along the way for lunch.

Day 3 - Fes is home to one of the largest surviving medinas on earth, Fes el Bali, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We'll learn the history of this unique place and while in the medina we’ll tour the beautiful twists, turns and shops. We’ll explore the layout of the old medina, the streets and smaller derbs (alleyways), historic gates, smaller buildings and Madrasa el-Attarine. Madrasa el-Attarine is another great example of Merenid architecture and is home to the oldest continuously operating university in the world, founded by a woman, Fatima Al Fihri in the 9th century.

Day 4 - Day trip to Meknes and the roman ruins of Volubilis, the former Mauritanian capital founded in the 3rd century B.C. as part of the Roman empire. A beautifully excavated site showing the African capital of the Roman empire. Lunch before returning to Fes.

Day 5 - We’ll leave Fes and visit the blue city of Chefchaouen. After an early breakfast, we’ll make our way to the Blue City, Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen, or Chaouen, is a city in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco. It’s known for the striking, blue-washed buildings of its old town. Leather and weaving workshops line its steep cobbled lanes. We’ll enjoy lunch before continuing our tour of the area. We’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Day 6 - After breakfast we’ll enjoy a cooking class in the Rif mountains. Food is one of the best ways to learn about a country and it’s traditions. In the afternoon, we’ll stop to see the blue city from above and the beautiful panoramic views of the area. Spa time in the afternoon, relax before dinner, spend the night.

Day 7 - We’ll leave Chefchaouen and head back to Casablanca. Have our final dinner in Morocco.

Day 8 - We’ll say goodbye to Morocco, until next time!
