My First Trip To Kenya

My very first trip to Kenya was exciting for a number of reasons, one of them being that I was sharing the experience with my sister. We hadn't traveled together out of the country as adults before and this was a chance for us to spend some together. Our first stop was London on a 14 hour layover, where we did a whirlwind tour of the most popular sites before heading back the airport to continue the second half of our trip.

When I stopped at the visitor center on my way to check in at the Airbnb I booked, the guy behind the counter told me that if I wanted to see the best views the area had to offer I should go to Mount Mitchell. He explained that it's the highest peak east of the Mississippi and sits at almost 7000 feet above sea level. That's all I needed hear, say no more. How do I get there?

Chocolate and Mountains Pt. 1

I was looking for snow, living in Georgia there aren't too many nearby options for "real" snow. The idea was to plan at least one trip this winter to a place within driving distance of Atlanta that would have snow. That's how I found Asheville, NC. They get a fair amount of snow in late winter, and since they're in the mountains its gorgeous during that time of year. I knew there wouldn't be any snow, but since I needed to do a trip I decided against waiting for the snow to visit. I've been on a mission since I moved to the Atlanta area to see as much of the region as I can between big trips abroad.

It seems much easier to make a life changing shift in the way you live your life if you’re 23 with no responsibilities, just graduated from college and even the slightest idea that you want to buck the system and create your own path through life. What if you’re somewhere in the middle? Not fresh out of college, but not yet ready for retirement? That’s where I found myself sitting, somewhere in the middle.
